Year 4 Chocolate Workshop

Year 4 took part in an exciting, delicious chocolate experience on May 5th, led by Derek Smith from Chocolate by Design. During the morning, Derek presented a potted history of chocolate and how it is produced (helped by frequent questions, with chocolate rewards.)

After lunch, the serious business began. In groups of 6, children designed and made a chocolate pizza. Sweets, placed on a liquid chocolate base made a design, then white chocolate, squeezed out of a bag, was used to write the team name. Mr Britt judged the pizzas, after a difficult deliberation, choosing the winners of the Golden Wonka bars. Chocolate bags were given to the second and third places and finally a bag of chocolate to all children. The pizzas are now chilling, ready to be eaten on Monday.

Year 4 would like to thank Derek Smith for an informative and fun day. An exciting time was had by all, and we learnt lots about chocolate.
