At Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred we believe Physical Education and Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better. As well as the obvious health benefits in PE, our children also learn to develop the qualities of discipline, resilience, communication, team work, and ambition, leading to improved concentration, attitude, and academic achievement.
At our school, PE is taught over nine different subject headings by a specialist PE teacher. These are;
- Team games
- Invasion games
- Net games (badminton, tennis)
- Bat & ball (cricket, rounders)
Through these subjects, lessons are delivered in order to develop the children’s personal, physical, creative, social and cognitive understanding.
Swimming is taught for the whole of Year 3, so that children can learn to swim properly. They have a weekly lesson throughout the whole year and attend a local swimming pool where specialist swimming teachers take the lessons.
Our Sport Premium funding enables us to have a specialist PE teacher full time on staff.
