At Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred we believe that PE and sport play a key role in personal development and that every child should be provided with opportunities to participate in a wide range of sporting and physical instruction.

We aim to improve concentration, memory, behavior and academic performance through sports and other activities; this whole school enhancement encourages fairness, values, responsibility and respect. Positive social skills and character building is essential for our pupils to develop.

You must check the weekly PE timetable that your child takes home to ensure that no changes have been made to clubs.

Message from Mr Perry - Sports Leader July 2018

"What a wonderful sporting year it has been at HPACH! So many amazing memories and triumphs and so much success in a short space of time. There is no doubt that the children at HPACH have so much sporting potential and the year has been about building on that and trying to create a sporting ethos that can last a lifetime.

I can honestly say this year has gone better than I could have expected. We have claimed victories in the Thurrock SSP football and netball as well as being overall runners-up in the Hockey. We have had individual success in the cross country as well as amazing success in the KS1 football competitions. In Athletics we have shown our potential by finishing runners up at the Harris Federation sports day at Crystal palace (16 academies) and we finished overall third at the borough Olympics (winning the track events overall). We have also given our children opportunities in badminton, cricket and rounders.

As a result of this success, our school finished in overall 12th place in the Thurrock SSP medal table, a tally of all sporting achievement throughout the whole year.

It was great to see every student at HPACH on the secondary field yesterday at our internal sports day. It was a great occasion supported by so many of our staff and parents. On reflection the day had areas in which improvements will be made and we are aware of what we need to do to improve the event structure next year. I’d like to thank the staff that assisted this event and to Mr Thomas and Mrs Hector who ran the track events in the afternoon.

This year has been a hugely successful one but now I challenged student, staff and parents to strive for big improvements next year."

Pictures attached show pupils at our Borough Sports event this year, our squad who were runners up at the Harris Federation Sports Event, our Year 5 and 6 boys football champions, our netball league and rally champions, Year 5 and 6 and our Sportshall athletics squad (Key Stage 2).
